Why Tempo Chain

TROUTE could not exist on any other blockchain.

Most chains were not built for payments. They were built for speculation: token trading, NFT minting, DeFi protocols. Payment infrastructure was an afterthought, bolted on top of a system that was never designed for transaction volume or real-world settlement.

Tempo Chain is the exception.

Tempo was built by a team that came out of Stripe, the company that processed over $1 trillion in payments in 2023. They did not come to crypto to build another DeFi chain. They came to build payment infrastructure for the next decade of the internet.

The result is a blockchain that is fundamentally different from anything else available today.

What Makes Tempo Different

Machine Payments Protocol (MPP)

MPP is an open payment standard built directly into Tempo Chain. It allows AI agents and services to coordinate payments programmatically without human intervention. It is agnostic to payment method, stablecoins, cards, bank transfers, and is designed to be extended as new payment types emerge.

TROUTE is built natively on top of MPP. This is not an integration. This is not a wrapper. TROUTE uses MPP as its core settlement layer, which means every improvement Tempo makes to MPP directly improves TROUTE.

Sub-$0.001 Gas Fees

Gas on Tempo is paid in stablecoins. There is no native gas token to manage, no price volatility in transaction costs, and no situation where fees spike and make micropayments economically unviable. For AI agents routing thousands of small payments per hour, this is critical.

Instant Finality

Tempo is designed for payment finality, not probabilistic confirmation. Transactions are final when they settle. There are no reorganizations, no waiting for confirmations, no uncertainty about whether a payment went through.

Built-in Compliance

Tempo's Policy Registry allows protocols to enforce compliance rules on-chain without custom smart contract logic. TROUTE uses this natively, which means enterprise and institutional users can interact with the protocol without worrying about regulatory exposure.

Ecosystem

Tempo's design partners include Anthropic, OpenAI, Visa, Mastercard, Revolut, DoorDash, Ramp, Shopify, Standard Chartered, Nubank, Stripe, and Klarna.

These are not investors. These are organizations actively building on Tempo Chain right now. Every one of them will eventually need a routing layer for their AI agent payment flows.

TROUTE is building that layer.
